Mission Statement

REGISTERED CHARITY No. 1080101

Dr. David France identified the need to alleviate the medical and  other concerns of former players, and with the support of Brian Labone Everton former player and Club Captain and lawyer Norman Jones, established the Everton Former-Players’ Foundation as a registered UK charity. It was one of the first organization of its kind in the world and ensured that any former-player who has made one competitive appearance  for Everton Football Club qualified for help.  Under the direction of Chairman Laurence Lee and his Trustees, the Former-Players’ Foundation has gone from strength to strength and built an organisation which is seen as a model for other football clubs throughout Europe. Since it’s inception EFPF has helped many former players with physical, monetary or addiction problems. Its activities include fund raising events such as Golf Days, Play on the pitch, visiting former players & arranging trips to Wembley cup finals for those players who otherwise would not have been able to go. Carrying on the Labone family tradition, Brian’s widow Pat kindly agreed to become the administrator of EFPF a few years ago. Most of the work of the Foundation has gone unseen by fans but not unnoticed by those it has helped and many of the former players will testify to the help and friendship the Foundation has provided. Friendship has also  developed as an important part of the Foundation’s work and Christmas get togethers for former team mates are now part of the events that are organised. The Foundation also provides signed items for the use of other charities and has provided football shirts for charities in Africa. EFPF is also part of the wider former players community being a founder member of BAFPA (British Alliance of Former Players Associations) & EFPA (European Former Players Association). The Foundation can also be found on Facebook and Twitter. The Foundation can only work with the help and the generosity of both the Everton club and the fans and EFPF would like to thank all those who have helped the Foundation over the years and the years to come.
